The Manitowoc Menards employee accused of stealing from the store over 15 times has entered his plea.
23-year-old Brian T. Gauthier maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to a charge of Retail Theft of Between $5,000 and $10,000 in Manitowoc County Court yesterday (March 26th).
Also during the hearing, Gauthier waived his preliminary hearing, and had his next appearance scheduled for May 1st.
Gauthier was working as a stocker at the Manitowoc Menards when he was allegedly seen on video surveillance cameras grabbing items off the shelf, placing them in a cart, and taking them to his vehicle without paying.
These thefts were brought to the attention of the Manitowoc Police Department when an employee at the Menards Corporate Office in Eau Claire noticed a discrepancy in their inventory.
He is alleged to have stolen over $5,300 in merchandise over a four month span.
Guthier also had a scheduling conference scheduled for May 27th in front of Judge Jaerilyn Dietz.
