A local company has been honored for its innovation in cheese production.
Sargento Cheese out of Plymouth has been named to the 2026 World’s Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company.
Sargento came in as the third most innovative business in the world in Fast Company’s food category, which the company described as a “watershed moment for Sargento after more than 70 years of family ownership and innovation that has transformed how Americans buy and enjoy natural cheese.”
Sargento also credited this recent distinction to the unveiling of their Natural American Sliced Cheese last year, which puts a natural, unprocessed spin on the classic American cheese slice.
Honored to be given such a distinction, Louie Gentine, Sargento Chairman and CEO, said, “Being named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies is a tribute to my grandfather, my father, and uncles who made sure Sargento would always lead the way with new ideas to create value for our stakeholders. It’s also a testament to the winning spirit of our employees, past and present.”
Each year, Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies list puts a spotlight on organizations that set new standards, which creates a lasting impact across various industries.
