One person is in custody after a car accident in Oshkosh.
The Oshkosh Police Department was called to the area of Church Avenue and Division Street yesterday, just after 3:30 a.m., on a report of a one-vehicle crash resulting in injury.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the vehicle involved, which was carrying four occupants, was heading northbound on Division from Church before it left the roadway and struck a pole.
As a result of the accident, a 29-year-old male passenger from Oshkosh was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries.
However, it is unclear if any of the three others inside the vehicle sustained injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old Oshkosh man, was arrested and transported to the Winnebago County Jail on a charge of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Great Bodily Harm.
After the crash, the Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit was called in to assist with the on-scene investigation.
In their statement on the matter, the Oshkosh Police Department noted, “Accidents involving impaired driving can have long-lasting impacts – causing severe injuries, lifelong medical needs, and preventable loss. The Oshkosh Police Department urges everyone to plan ahead.”
