A Madison school teacher is on leave for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
The Metropolitan School District said yesterday the unnamed teacher works at Vel Phillips Memorial High School, but no charges had been filed as of Tuesday.
District staff were made aware of the allegations on Friday and then contacted the police.
The district superintendent apologized to all Madison students and their families who have been impacted by the situation.
He added that he will “hold people accountable when they do not have our students’ best interests in mind.”
