The former coroner of Ozaukee County is being charged with misconduct in office.
Records show Timothy Deppisch was charged last week for allegedly falsifying records and travel reimbursement claims.
A news release mentioned Deppisch faces up to seven years in prison if convicted, as well as a fine of up to $20,000.
Officials began investigating in 2023, when Deppisch left office, and the sheriff’s office received a tip from the new coroner about alleged discrepancies in Deppisch’s travel expense vouchers.
He was first elected coroner in 2016 before the county moved to an appointed medical examiner.
