Manitowoc County’s outgoing executive was very thankful during his final county board of supervisors meeting.
Bob Ziegelbauer was given a proclamation for his many years of service during last Tuesday’s meeting.
County Board Chairman Tyler Martell read that Ziegelbauer served on the county board from 1982 to 1988, before serving in the state legislature.
He would then be elected in April 2006 for his first term and served four more terms after.
After a standing ovation, Ziegelbauer told supervisors that it’s been an honor to serve for 20 years as county executive and thanked county employees and department heads for their work.
“Thank you to the citizens of Manitowoc County for the support over all these years,” he stated. “I wish you well in serving the people of our county. And all the best of luck in the future.”
He also said, “The county is in good shape as I leave.”
His term ends on April 20th, as Ziegelbauer decided not to run for his sixth term as county executive this election.
The only candidate that will be on the ballot will be Tyler Martell, as he is running unopposed.
