Panther Nation turned out Sunday to welcome home the state champion Reedsville Panthers.
Fire trucks sounded full blast as hundreds lined the streets and also crammed inside of Al Peter’s gymnasium on the campus of Reedsville High School on Sunday to welcome home the 2026 WIAA Division 5 state boys’ basketball champions, the Reedsville Panthers.
The Panthers defeated Southwestern 56-48 Saturday at the Kohl Center in Madison to claim the state title, just the second in the history of the school, and the 1st since 1946.
Senior Arden Strenn scored 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Panthers to victory.
He said, “It’s crazy to think that you change the Kohl Center to orange and it was a good game and we played our hearts out and, hello!”
Coach Ron Prochnow greeted a huge gathering at Al Peter’s Gymnasium.
“Riding the fire trucks around town, crazy moment, and support has been crazy all year,” he explained. “Two great games. Congrats you guys. 2026 state champions.”
The Panthers defeated Sheboygan Lutheran 75-72 in the semis on Friday morning to reach the championship game.
And in the process, Prochnow becomes just the third head coach in the state of Wisconsin to win both the boys’ and girls’ basketball state titles.
