Governor Tony Evers Official Portrait
Wisconsin’s governor has released a statement following Senator Devin LeMahieu’s announcement not to seek reelection.
Governor Tony Evers stated that, as a fellow son of Sheboygan County, he enjoyed working with Sen. LeMahieu and his quiet but frank approach to their work together.
Gov. Evers continued saying that while the two have not always seen eye to eye, “I’ve never doubted his commitment to doing what he believes is best for the folks and families in Sheboygan County and across our state.”
He also highlighted policies passed with bipartisan support, including tax cuts for working families and retirees, investments in the state’s childcare industry to support kids, families, and providers across the state, and keeping the Milwaukee Brewers in Wisconsin.
The governor also wished Devin and his wife a lifetime of happiness and adventure together and thanked him for his many years of public service.
Sen. LeMahieu announced on Thursday (March 19th) that he would not seek reelection so he can spend more time in the Madison area and root for conservative policy change from the sidelines.
