The City of Manitowoc is going big for America’s 250th birthday.
Visit Manitowoc Executive Director Courtney Hansen tells SeehaferNews.com that this year’s Fourth on the Shore will have a full weekend of fun to celebrate Independence Day in Manitowoc and will go from July 1st through the 5th.
Beginning on the 1st, Kids from Wisconsin will perform “America’s Soundtrack” at the Capitol Civic Center, followed by a free showing of the classic movie Jaws on July 2nd at Lighthouse Park.
On July 3rd, Road Trip and Smoke Road will be featured along with USS Cobia tours, historical presentations, and more.
On the 4th of July, the Manitowoc Farmer’s Market gets underway from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Quay Street with special activities and guests to kick off the day.
The annual Fourth on the Shore Parade will start at 10:00 a.m., with a judged parade happening for the first time ever.
Judging in the parade is to encourage and reward creative floats to ensure a lively show.
The top three floats will get trophies.
The parade’s layout has also changed this year to allow for a bigger celebration. Hansen says in partnership with SubFest, the main event will take place outside the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in the lot to its east and north, as in past years, with the addition of Maritime Drive and N. 6th Street being closed after the parade until 4:00 p.m.
Activities include a bounce house, foam zone, magic show, and more. More information can be found at visitmanitowoc.org/4thonthshore.
