The Manitowoc County Board voted to remove an improvement project at Lower Cato Falls County Park.
County Board Chairman Tyler Martell explained on his Facebook page that the board voted on a resolution to spend $140,000 in surplus funds to replace the Uninterrupted Power Supply for the Communications and Technology Building.
The board would have also paid $250,000 for repaving at Lower Cato Falls Park; however, an amendment was proposed to remove the project since it’s not considered an urgent need.
12th District Supervisor Kevin Behnke says that the 2027 county budget will be very challenging, which is why he asked for the amendment.
4th District Supervisor Dan Heilman was the only no vote.
Martell says the repaving at Lower Cato Falls would include the entry road, parking lot, and two driveways that extend from the main parking lot and playground area.
He then asked residents if they felt the project should be a priority during the next budget.
