A child death case in Manitowoc County appears to be finally going to trial, more than eight years after the incident.
55-year-old Timothy Hauschultz was in court yesterday, where he had his jury trial set for October 12th through the 22nd following a pre-trial conference on September 28th with both Judge Mark Rohrer and the presiding judge, Carey Reed.
This case has been a roller coaster of emotions for the family of 7-year-old Ethan Hauschultz, who died while being punished at Timothy’s home.
Ethan’s great-uncle, Timothy, instructed his nephew, Damian Haunschultz, to impose a punishment of carrying a heavy log around the yard because the 7-year-old couldn’t remember a Bible verse.
Damian also buried Ethan in the snow, leading to his death.
Several attempts at a trial fell through for various reasons, and Judge Jerylin Dietz was forced to recuse herself from the case.
Timothy is next due in court on May 20th for a motion hearing.
