The Green Bay Blizzard indoor football team opened up its season on Monday with a closely contested battle.
The Blizzard hosted the Vegas Knight Hawks at the Resch Center Monday night, where the local squad held off a late run to win 37-35.
The Blizzard held a 23-7 lead at the break, but four second-half touchdowns by the Hawks put them ahead 35-30 late in the contest.
With 4:25 left on the clock, Green Bay QB Liam Thompson would find Trevon Alexander for a 12-yard score, and the defense would hold on to claim the win.
Thompson would end the night with 98 yards passing on 11 completions, including a pair of touchdown throws, while also contributing heavily on the ground.
He rushed for 59 yards on 14 attempts and found the endzone on the ground twice.
The Blizzard start their season 1-0, and will be back in front of a home crowd on Saturday when they welcome Fishers Freight to the Resch Center.
