Four of Senator Andre Jacque’s bills are one signature away from becoming law.
The New Franken legislator tells SeehaferNews.com that Assembly Bill 86, which would impose a life imprisonment penalty for those convicted of sex trafficking when three or more children have been victimized, has passed in the Senate this week.
That bill is now on its way to Governor Tony Evers’ desk for final approval, as is his stillbirth tax credit bill, officially known as Assembly Bill 373.
That bill, which was co-authored by Sheboygan Fall Representative Lindee Brill, would provide a $2,000 nonrefundable individual income tax credit to parents of stillborn children.
The third bill on its way to the governor is Assembly Bill 918, which would require school districts to provide age-appropriate instruction on adoption, as they must already do for Wisconsin’s Safe Haven for Newborns option.
Sen. Jacque’s successful week was also highlighted by the Senate unanimously passing Assembly Bill 253.
This measure, which was co-written by Saukville Representative Robert Brooks, looks to grant greater financial flexibility to disabled individuals who are working and receiving support through the Medical Assistance Purchase Plan (MAPP).
All four bills will be reviewed by Governor Evers, and if signed, will become law in Wisconsin.
