One person is dead after a chase that ended in a shooting by a Verona police officer.
An officer noticed a stolen vehicle driving along Highway 151 just after 5 p.m. Sunday.
Authorities say the officer tried to stop the car, but the driver sped off, with the pursuit ending in the Town of Springdale.
The driver allegedly got out of the car with a weapon, with the Verona police officer firing several rounds from his handgun after a fight began.
The suspect died at the hospital, and the officer is now on administrative leave.
