A bill created by an area state senator has now become law.
Senate Bill 259, authored by State Senator Andre Jacque, would require the Wisconsin Department of Children and Family Services to notify the U.S. Department of Defense if a veteran parent is under investigation for threatening abuse or neglecting a child or unborn child.
The notice to the Department of Defense would only need to include the child’s or expectant mother’s name and address, and the fact that an investigation has begun regarding the child.
Sen. Jacaque said that protecting every Wisconsin citizen who has been victimized by criminal behavior will always be one of his top priorities.
