Work has officially begun for lead service lateral replacement in Two Rivers.
Construction is taking place in the areas of 24th Street between the East Twin River and Lincoln Avenue, and Emmet Street from 22nd Street south to 17th Street. The city explains that over the next few weeks, crews will continue moving through nearby streets as service replacements continue throughout the area.
Residents in active construction zones might see traffic disruptions, construction equipment, and brief water service interruptions.
Property owners will get direct coordination from the contractor when work is scheduled at their specific property.
Lead Service Lateral Replacement focuses on removing older lead service water lines and replacing them to ensure safe and reliable drinking water for the community.
Two Rivers officials say since 2017, more than 1,000 lead service laterals have been replaced, making steady progress toward eliminating lead from the community’s water infrastructure.
Another 300 will be replaced from 2026 to 2027.
