Students at Plymouth High School are looking to help out children in need of medical care across the globe.
Plymouth’s chapter of WeACT will begin its Cookie Dough for Dickson fundraiser on Monday (March 16th), allowing students and community members to purchase edible cookie dough.
Money raised from this fundraiser will help fund a surgery for Dickson, a child overseas.
So far, Plymouth’s WeACT has raised money through different initiatives to help five children receive life-changing surgeries.
Children such as Sowali, Blessing, and Dasani suffered from single or bilateral clubfoot, while Bridget had right injection neuritis.
All four of these children from around the world have finished surgery and treatment for their conditions, all thanks to the students of Plymouth High.
Yusuf, another child currently dealing with left knock knee, is in the middle of his treatment, also funded by the Plymouth WeACT group.
On what this fundraising means, Plymouth student Gretchen Herzog, said, “The money comes from the students at Plymouth High School, and goes directly to kids across the world. It’s truly a from-kids-to-kids project…We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a happy and healthy life, and we are more than ready to work to get everyone there.”
After the Cookie Dough for Dickson fundraiser, the school intends on holding one more event to help another child overseas receive the medical treatment they need.
