The Mishicot Police Department and the Yindra family are joining forces with the Wisconsin Department of Justice to teach the community more about a crime on the rise.
The Sextortion Awareness Community Event will be held at Fairway Inn & Suites, located at 250 West Church Street, on Wednesday, featuring keynote speaker John DeMay.
He will share his personal story about losing his son to sextortion, which is when scammers trick people into sharing sexual photos and then blackmail them.
DeMay will also provide an unfiltered, in-depth look at how sextortion schemes unfold and the law enforcement investigation that followed.
There will be victim families present to share and support, as well as victim resource organizations.
