The City of Sheboygan has pushed back talks about a new potential housing development.
Earlier this week, the City’s Finance and Personnel Committee chose to table a discussion on entering into a Tax Incremental District Development Agreement with Timberwood Meadows, LLC for property located between Moenning Road and Stahl Road on the City’s south side.
This agreement would allow Timberwood Meadows to construct multi-family and single-family housing in the area, along with other buildings intended for commercial and retail use.
The agreement would also have the City pay the developer $72 million over the next 16 years in five installments, with the first totaling $1.6 million.
However, during Monday’s (March 9th) meeting, Alderperson Michael Close presented an amendment to the agreement, creating affordable housing requirements.
That amendment failed to secure enough votes, with Alderperson Grazia Perrella joining Close, while Alders John Belanger, Dean Dekker, and Trey Mitchell voted against the affordable housing proposition.
Following the failed amendment vote, Close, Perrella, and Dekker successfully voted to table discussions on the TID Development Agreement until a later time.
