A three-car accident in Calumet County has taken the life of a De Pere man.
Lieutenant Joseph Tenor explains that deputies were called to the accident at the intersection of State Highway 57 and Schneider Road in the Town of Chilton.
Early investigations show that a vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 57 crossed into the southbound lane and hit two oncoming vehicles.
The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 77-year-old man, died at the scene. One of the southbound drivers was a 50-year-old man from Kiel.
The man and a child passenger were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 39-year-old Appleton man, who was also in the southbound lane, was uninjured.
Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor, and the crash remains under investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office.
The names of those involved are being withheld pending family notification.
The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Chilton Police Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, Hilbert and Chilton Fire Departments, Hilbert-Potter First Responders, and an ambulance from the Kiel Fire Department.
