Multiple family pets are still missing following an apartment fire in the Village of Harrison.
A call came in reporting a carport on fire just before 11:15 Friday evening (March 6th), and the Harrison Fire-Rescue Department responded to find the building fully engulfed in flames.
As crews began attacking the blaze, they learned that all of the occupants had escaped, but there were multiple pets still unaccounted for.
No injuries were reported, and the apartment was deemed a total loss.
Harrison Fire-Rescue is reminding residents that a working smoke detector is a “critical life-saving component” and encourages everyone to check the batteries on theirs.
They also thanked the other responding agencies, including the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office, Gold Cross Ambulance, and the fire departments from Fox Crossing, Buchanan, Forest Junction, Hilbert, and Stockbridge.
