A dog was shot by police in Fox Crossing after it attacked a woman and another dog.
The Fox Crossing Police Department was dispatched to Fritsch Park at 11:30 Saturday morning to investigate the attack.
They learned that the canine in question had a history of aggressive behavior with a previous attack on a dog and its owner a few months prior.
When they arrived, the officer reported seeing the dog attacking another dog and its owner, who was actively trying to separate the dogs.
An officer ended up shooting the aggressive canine in order to prevent additional injuries.
The Department noted, “Situations involving animals are always difficult, and the Fox Crossing Police Department recognizes that incidents resulting in harm to an animal can be upsetting to members of the community.”
The department is still conducting a review of the incident.
They are also reminding pet owners of the importance of properly securing their pets, “particularly in public spaces, to help prevent unfortunate situations like this from occurring.”
