The Manitowoc Two Rivers YMCA had a very successful Y Day of Giving.
They received more than double their original goal, which was $12,000, with donors and matching sponsors combining to raise more than $24,000.
Community Engagement Director Steph Peters tells Seehafernews.com that the outpouring of support was immediate, enthusiastic, and deeply felt by everyone.
The funds directly go to programs and people that make the Y so essential to the community and include nutritious meals for children in after-school care, financial assistance for neighbors facing hardship, swim lessons, youth sports, specialty wellness programs for cancer survivors and those living with Parkinson’s disease, and sponsored memberships for residents of local homeless shelters.
The Y also highlighted four generous local sponsors by matching donations up to $6,000.
They were Cool City Chevrolet, Nicolet National Bank, Summit Clinical Services, and the Chiropractic Advantage.
Nearly 7,000 people rely on the Manitowoc-Two River YMCA every week, and the gifts make sure the door stays open for everyone.
