The 2026 Clean Sweep Program through the Manitowoc County Recycling Center has been expanded.
Operations Manager Jon Riesenbuechler explains that they are working with the Brown County Hazardous Material Recovery Facility to allow the disposal of acceptable household hazardous waste items for free at the Brown County center year-round during designated days and times.
The days include Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Thursday from Noon to 6:00 p.m.
The Brown County Resource Recovery Center is located at 2561 S. Broadway in Green Bay.
Reisenbuechler noted that the partnership is meant to complement the local Hazardous Waste Clean Sweep, but is also meant for those who cannot wait for the event.
The Manitowoc County Recycling Center also explained that farms and businesses are not covered under the partnership, and you have to bring proof of residency.
Some acceptable items that will be taken at the Brown County facility include pesticides, insecticides, oil-based paints, varnishes, and thinners, among others.
But items like smoke detectors, sharps, and large appliances will not be taken.
