Winners have been announced for the Sheboygan County Planning and Conservation Department’s annual poster contest.
The department has announced Sophia Gries as the winner in the second to third grade level, while Violet Havard won in the fourth to sixth grade competition and Aliyah Kohlwey was the winner in the seventh to ninth grade level.
This year’s competition centered around the theme “Soil. Where it all begins,” and posters were evaluated on conservation messaging, visual effectiveness, originality, and universal appeal.
As winners, Sophia, Violet, and Aliyah’s posters move on to the state competition which will be held this month at the Wisconsin Land and Water’s Annual Conference.
In addition to advancing, each winner was also rewarded with vouchers for a free week of camp at Camp Ykoda in Sheboygan County.
