Congressman Glenn Grothman’s bill aimed at cracking down on regulatory abuse has taken a major step in the legislative process.
The CRACKDOWN Act, which stands for Combating Regulatory Abuse, Closing Known Deficiencies, and Overseeing Waste Nationwide, passed in the U.S. House Committee on Education and Workforce.
Rep. Grothman’s bill establishes a 5% improper payment threshold for states participating in the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) program, and strengthens oversight to ensure taxpayer dollars are protected from waste, fraud, and abuse.
Rep. Grothman noted that the 5% threshold makes it so the state can take action “before small problems spiral into major fraud or abuse of taxpayer dollars.”
He also tells SeehaferNews.com, “Thirty-eight states already meet this standard today, proving this is a common-sense step to protect taxpayer dollars and ensure these programs operate the way they should.”
