The man charged with trying to set a fire at Congressman Glenn Grothman’s Office in Fond du Lac has been sentenced.
Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney announced that 20-year-old Caiden Stachowicz was sentenced to seven years in prison, followed by seven years on extended supervision, by Judge Tricia Walker for a charge of arson of a building without consent.
Stachowicz was arrested by the Fond du Lac Police Department after they were called to a structure fire in the 500 block of N. Peters Avenue, which was the home office of Cong. Grothman.
He was later found near a strip mall where the fire occurred and admitted to starting the fire in response to the government’s ban on the popular social media app TikTok.
Evidence also showed that the 20-year-old tried to break into the building as he wanted to start the fire inside.
After sentencing, Toney stated, “Political violence isn’t a Republican or Democrat issue, it’s an American issue.
It must be taken seriously to protect our Democratic Republic and ensure that the best of America is willing to step up and serve their communities and our country.”
