The Neenah Police Department is providing more information following a threat to an area school.
Yesterday, the department announced that they, along with School Resource Officers, Investigators, and Patrol Officers, were actively investigating a potential threat involving Neenah Middle School.
School was held remotely due to the threat. Since then, a student has been taken into custody for making terrorist threats toward Neenah Middle School.
Neenah Police Chief Aaron Olson released a statement thanking the district’s superintendent and his team for their strong partnership, united by a common purpose of keeping every student in the district safe. He also said that statements made by the student were falsified and that there was never a true threat to the school.
Olsen then made it clear, saying, “threats toward other students, toward any school, or toward school staff, we will identify you, and we will take action.”
He also noted that there has been misinformation being spread on social media and that writing search warrants, executing those warrants, and verifying information takes time, and that the police department will never withhold information that is necessary to keep the community safe.
