The Manitowoc Warming Shelter is calling a weekend fundraiser a huge success.
Over the weekend, more than 200 people participated in the 2nd Coldest Night of the Year walk. Although the total amount from donations hasn’t been counted yet, they estimated to have raised around $72,000.
A post on the shelter’s Facebook page explains that they not only beat their original goal of $50,000, but were also third in the nation for funds raised for the walk.
The Manitowoc Warming Shelter is still accepting donations as it continues to seek a permanent location. Right now, the Lakeshore CAP offices can only shelter a maximum of twelve people.
