Lakeland University has received substantial funding from the community.
The university has shared that they have been given a $450,000 grant from the Kohler Trust for the Arts and Education.
This grant is aimed at funding several student-centered programs and initiatives at Lakeland.
In particular, it will focus on supporting the continuation of a college coursework partnership between Lakeland and the Sheboygan Area School District, Lakeland’s Kohler Teaching Scholars program, the Lakeland Promise Program, and the Sheboygan County Scholars program.
Regarding this generous grant funding, University President Beth Borgen stated, “The Kohler Trust for the Arts and Education is such a strong supporter of our efforts to remove barriers for local students to earn a college degree. Their investment in our students is creating the next generation of leaders and contributing citizens in our region.”
The Sheboygan County Scholars program’s Class of 2030, Bryn Adams and Aaron Cortez of Sheboygan North High School, and Tessa Schmidt from Howards Grove High School, are also partially funded through philanthropy such as this grant.
