Charges have been filed against an 18-year-old woman for a fatal crash in Calumet County.
NBC26 reports that Abigail Wilcox has been charged with Homicide by Vehicle with Use of a Controlled Substance for her role in the crash that killed an 89-year-old Brillion woman.
Wilcox was said to have been stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Irish Road and Highway E on September 3rd.
Wilcox claimed that her vision was obstructed by stalks of corn, which is why she didn’t see an oncoming vehicle, and pulled into the intersection.
The two vehicles collided, killing Nancy Wesener.
While no signs of impairment were detected at the scene, an evidentiary blood draw determined that Wilcox had Delta-9-THC and related marijuana compounds in her blood at the time of the crash.
Wilcox is due for an initial appearance on June 22nd.
