Bail has been set for a Manitowoc woman accused of hitting her child.
37-year-old Erica E. Garcia was given a $2,500 recognizance bond by Court Commissioner Jewel Scharenbroch yesterday (March 2nd) as she faces charges of Physical Abuse of a Child and Disorderly Conduct.
Garcia was arrested by the Manitowoc Police Department after they were called to the 600 block of Chicago Street in the early morning hours of Sunday.
The caller told police that a woman, later identified as the 37-year-old, was highly intoxicated and beating her child.
When speaking to police, the victim would corroborate the story of the witness, prompting authorities to take Garcia into custody.
Garcia was also ordered to have no contact with the victim unless approved by DHS, and she must maintain absolute sobriety.
She will next return to court on March 23rd for her initial appearance at 1:30 p.m.
