The friends and family of a man who died in a Sheboygan County hit-and-run in 2016 are still holding out hope that someone will step forward with information.
The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office was called to the area of County Road P just north of County Road 1 in the Town of Rhine just before 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 3rd, 2016.
There, they found the body of Shawn Kaufert, who was struck by a van as he was lying in the road.
It was then learned that Kaufert was already dead when the van struck him, as he had been previously hit by an unknown vehicle.
In the nearly 10 years since the hit-and-run, no arrests have been made.
Those who knew and loved Kaufert are offering $9,000 for any information on the incident that leads to a conviction.
This is on top of any rewards that are still available through Crime Stoppers.
Anyone with any information about what happened on County Road P that night is encouraged to call the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office at (920) 459-3112 or Crime Stoppers at (877) 283-8436.
