A month’s long rehabilitation project on Interstate 43 in Sheboygan County is set to begin today (March 2nd).
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that work will get underway today as crews begin tree clearing along the 10.4-mile stretch of 43.
This rehabilitation project will span from Wilson/Lima Road in the Town of Wilson to State Highway 42 in the Town of Sheboygan.
While traffic impacts will remain minimal during the first stage of the project, while the tree clearing is taking place, long-term road closures will begin on the interstate in mid-March and last until approximately July.
However, the DOT believes this month’s long construction project will be completed in late October or early November.
Work to be done over the project’s duration includes removing three inches of deteriorated pavement surface, a new asphalt overlay, structure maintenance on nine bridges, slope grading, and more.
In total, the project is expected to cost approximately $21 million.
