
An area technical college will get grant funding for commercial driver training.
Lakeshore College will receive almost $25,000 from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) to provide Class A or Class B CDL training and CDL theory to 12 people seeking their license.
Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton will also receive grant money for Class A CDL training for 28 people.
Other groups receiving DWD grant money are from Milwaukee, Waukesha, Marathon, and Eau Clair Counties, among others.
The grants are part of the DWD’s Commercial Driver Training Grant program and support businesses and organizations that provide workforce training for school bus drivers, truck drivers, delivery drivers, and more.
Governor Tony Evers celebrated during his State of the State Address that a new record high of 18,525 apprentices enrolled and close to 3,100 employers participated in the state’s Registered Apprenticeship Program.
