What was supposed to be a night of group bonding turned into a busy night on the job for the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office.
The department was hosting an open house and soup cook-off for friends and family of the 911 dispatchers on Tuesday evening, when an influx of calls made for a change of plans.
Between 3:30 and 6:00 p.m., the Outagamie County Communications Center received a whopping 227 calls, resulting in 156 calls of service, including 84 traffic crashes.
Communications Center dispatchers didn’t miss a beat, jumping in to answer calls, all with their friends and family right there behind them.
The Communications Center said in a statement, “We are incredibly proud of our team’s professionalism, adaptability, and heart. And to the families who share their time, holidays, and now dinner with our dispatchers, thank you. Your support makes this work possible.”
