A local organization is making last-minute preparations for what’s become an annual tradition for Hope House.
The 2nd Humor for Hope Fundraiser takes place Saturday (February 28th) at Silver Valley on S. Alverno Road in Manitowoc, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
House Program Manager Jack Mellberg stated on WOMT’s Stable Families-Stable Communities podcast that there will be several raffle baskets, a charcuterie showdown, and entertainment from Comedian Taylor Mason.
“He won, I believe it’s called Star Search in 91, that was the year I was born,” he explained. “So, he’ll be returning. Very fun act, definitely, laughing, rolling on the floor. I had to be picked up a couple of times.”
Mason has a mix of regular stand-up and puppet friends to entertain audiences.
Seehafer Broadcasting Vice President Terry Stevenson will also be emceeing the evening.
Hope House Executive Jan Graunke explains that the charcuterie showdown has local food makers create boards, which are later judged.
“It’s fun,” she stated. “The restauranters really enjoy it. Last year we had 20 boards.”
After the judging, attendees will get to eat the boards.
Tickets are needed to get inside the show, but Graunke says they will sell raffle tickets to those who show up. There are still some available for purchase.
