A local high school will be hosting a statewide music competition.
Roncalli High School will be the home of the Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) sanctioned District Solo & Ensemble Music Festival on Saturday, March 7th.
The festival annually attracts thousands of students from middle, junior high, and high schools throughout Wisconsin.
This year, high school competitors from Brillion, Kewaunee, Sheboygan Falls, Two Rivers, and Valders High Schools will come to Roncalli, along with students from Brillion and Valders Middle Schools.
Roncalli students will also be participating in Solo & Ensemble.
WSMA Executive Director Laurie Fellenz says the music festival encourages well-rounded musicians who develop a deeper understanding through performance preparation, culminating in comprehensive feedback from qualified adjudicators.
The event also supports school music programs as a part of a comprehensive education by encouraging the study of quality music literature, motivating students to perform at their best, and improving students’ understanding of music literature and concepts.
