A bill that would eliminate overtime taxes is headed to the Wisconsin Senate.
Representative Ron Tusler, who represents a portion of western Manitowoc County, explained that Assembly Bill 461 passed the Wisconsin Assembly by a 61-35 vote and was referred to the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Revenue for advancement to the Senate floor.
The bill, which he helped introduce, aligns with another bill to eliminate taxes on tips and will help hardworking people keep more money, but it also serves as a strong motivator for employees to work extra hours to earn more.
The Joint Finance Committee also met to try to fund the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship program, which was not funded in the 2025-2027 state budget.
When the bill will be taken up by the Wisconsin Senate isn’t known at this time.
