Four cats are dead after a house fire north of Madison.
It happened Monday at a home in Pardeeville when first responders found heavy smoke and fire coming from the house.
Officials say they were able to knock the fire down quickly and get inside, where they were told about a dozen cats were inside.
Four of the cats died, and one is still missing.
It doesn’t appear that any humans were injured in the blaze.
