The Wisconsin DOT is clearing trees at a state park in Door County for safety.
The project at Potawatomi State Park will remove obstructions from the flight path of the Door County Cherryland Airport, which is right next door.
The Wisconsin DNR explains that the removal will help maintain a safe path of travel for aircraft using runways.
Tree removal has been taking place on both sides of Potawatomi State Park’s entrance road, in the vicinity of the park’s maintenance or service area.
The entrance road has remained open to the public throughout the project, and signage has been posted to alert park users to the ongoing work.
However, the snowmobile trail through the state park is closed for the duration of the tree removal project.
More information about the tree removal project can be found at dnr.wisconsin.gov.
