
John F. Levenhagen, age 74, a resident of Manitowoc, took his final ride into eternity with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
John was born on July 20, 1951 in Manitowoc to the late Fredrick and Eunice (Meneau) Levenhagen. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1969. On December 5, 1970, John married Marie Fruzyna at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manitowoc. John served his apprenticeship at Manitowoc Engineering and went on to work at many local machine shops as a journeyman machinist. After retiring in 2014, he worked parttime driving truck for Rush Logistics. John enjoyed listening to live music (especially the Dave Steffen Band), fishing, hunting with family, and especially riding his Harley. John enjoyed playing softball and umpiring, and was a longtime member of Kenny’s Klub. He was a very thoughtful and kind person that found happiness in donating to others in need.
Survivors include John’s wife of 55 years, Marie; two children, Ann (Kevin Ott) Cyr and Tim (Kris) Levenhagen; four grandchildren, Erica (Blake “Balake”), Cassidy (Alex), Dane (Brooke) and Justice (Kiana); one great grandson, Bennett; five siblings, Janet Trossen, Ann Viernes, Joanne (Chuck) Hynek, Allen (Diane) Levenhagen, and Robert Levenhagen; cousin and long time friend who took John fishing where they caught all the “big ones”, Steve (Laurene) Larsen; longtime friend and brother of the road, Gary (Jane) Birkholz; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Eunice Levenhagen; two sisters, Judy Levenhagen and Kathy Janssen; niece, Amber Levenhagen; nephew, Matthew Erickson; and David Larsen. Also “chosen family” of Paul (Dorothy) Foreyt.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Lisa Novachek will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. A luncheon for family and friends will then be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in John’s name that will be used to benefit organizations that were important to him.
