The City of Sheboygan is exploring options for a new space for artists.
At the City’s Common Council meeting held on Monday (February 16th), the group gave unanimous approval to Artspace Projects, Inc. to conduct a feasibility study for 1128 South 11th Street.
This feasibility study would explore options for an artist maker space and artist housing at the former Dakota Supply Group building.
According to City documents, this agreement is intended to “help the City of Sheboygan assess the viability of a creative sector-focused facility, including the potential for mixed-use artist housing, particularly in alignment with community needs and economic development strategies.”
Through the agreement, the City will pay Artspace Projects, Inc. $35,000 to conduct the study, coming in two installments of $17,500, covering staff time, deliverables, travel expenses, and travel time.
Artspace Projects, Inc is a Minnesota-based nonprofit specializing in property development, asset stewardship, consulting services, and donor-funded programs.
More information on the feasibility study for a potential artist maker space in Sheboygan can be found in the Common Council’s agenda from their Monday meeting.
