The Green Bay Area Public School District is apologizing after an incident involving middle school students.
WBAY reported that students at Edison Middle School “engaged in behaviors in local businesses and nearby yards” during a student-led walkout.
The district explains that the actions of its students “do not reflect the values of our school community” and adds that many students walked peacefully on the school’s track and in the surrounding neighborhoods.
GBAPS continues explaining that despite the walkout being led by students, they are working with school resource officers and Green Bay Police to review the situation and say that they “understand the frustration and concern this caused and regret the impact on those affected.”
A statement concludes that students who did not attend class without a valid reason may face consequences under their district’s policies.
