An Appleton resident was rescued from a burning home last night (February 18th).
The Appleton Fire Department was called to a structure fire in the 3000 block of North Meade Street just before 5:30 p.m., where they learned that there was someone still inside the home.
Search and rescue efforts began immediately, along with fire suppression.
The occupant was helped out of the residence while fire teams also brought the blaze under control within 20 minutes of their arrival.
The victim was treated at the scene before being transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time, but it was estimated to have caused around $80,000 in damage.
The Department also noted that there were no smoke alarms sounding when they arrived, and encouraged everyone to “know two ways out of every room… in case one is blocked or dangerous.”
The Appleton Fire Department was aided at the scene by Appleton Police, the Grand Chute Fire Department, and Gold Cross Ambulance.
