The City of Manitowoc is seeking members for one of its boards.
Sixth District Alderman Eric Sitkiewitz explained on WOMT’s Be My Guest program that he’s been appointed to the Manitowoc Board of Ethics for years, and they haven’t worked on anything major.
The Manitowoc Common Council on Monday (February 16th) approved an update to split the roll between the mayor and the rest of the council after the mayor had sole control over the Ethics Board.
Sitkiewitz says this approach is important because, “if there’s issues between different parties, there’s not one group that just was able to get the selection of who’s all representing the board of ethics.”
Mayor Justin Nickels will still be able to pick some board members, but the city’s Finance Committee will get to pick the rest.
Alderman Sitkiewitz says the city is now seeking members. Manitowoc residents can reach out to him or the city clerk’s office if they are interested.
Sikiewitz’s email is esitkiewitz@manitowoc.org.
The city clerk’s office phone number is 920-686-6900.
