
Across the state, primary elections are on the ballot today (February 17th), including one in the City of Sheboygan.
After current District 8 Alder Zach Rust decided not to seek another term, three candidates have thrown their hats into the ring, looking to fill the seat.
In the running today will be Bryan Kelly, Peter Jacobs, and Dom Davis, vying for the two spots on the ballot in April’s spring election.
District 8 in Sheboygan includes Wards 15 and 16.
Voters in Ward 15 can cast their votes at Good Shepard Lutheran Church, located at 1614 South 23rd Street, while Ward 16’s polling location will be at Bethany Reformed Church at 1315 Washington Avenue.
Following the primary, District 8 will join District 2 as the only contested races for Sheboygan’s Common Council on April 7th.
In District 2, incumbent John Belanger will take on challenger Erin Bremser. Alders in District 4, Alanza Grawien, District 6, Dean Dekker, and District 10 Joe Heidemann are all running unopposed.
However, in Manitowoc County, there are no races on the ballot.
Calumet County Clerk Beth Leary tells Seehafernews.com that they also do not have a spring primary election.
Polls opened at 7:00 this morning and will close at 8:00 p.m.
The 2026 Spring General Election is scheduled for April 7th.
