A South Shore Fire Department Firefighter has died unexpectedly while on active duty, the department announced Saturday night.
Robert Berens served the community for 26 years as both a firefighter and EMT.
In a statement on Facebook, the department asked the public to keep the Berens family, his fellow firefighters, and all who knew him in their thoughts during this difficult time.
Funeral arrangements are still pending.
