Despite a slow start, the 2025/26 season at the Port of Green Bay comes to an end with a lot of momentum.
Port Director Dean Haen has reported that the Port ended the season with a total port handled 1,587,620 tons of cargo throughout the year, which is in range of 2024-25’s total of just shy of 1.7 million.
Late-season increased activity across multiple commodities drove gains as the year progressed, with the biggest increase coming with the wood pulp shipments, which rose 145.7%.
Also, salt volumes increased 9.74% from the previous shipping season, supported by winter maintenance needs across the region.
Haen reflected on the season, saying, “Cargo volumes accelerated and carried us through to a solid finish. The diversity of commodities moving through the port continues to be a strength.”
The 2026 First Ship Contest is now underway. You can make your prediction at GreenBay.com/Contests.
