
The road to Madison begins today for high school boys’ wrestlers as Individual Sectionals are held throughout the state. The qualifying format for the state meet has changed: the regional round has been eliminated, and only sectionals remain.
There is a 12-day break to prepare for the state Individual Tournament, which begins Thursday, February 26th, at the Kohl Center in Madison.
In Division One, Manitowoc Lincoln, Sheboygan North, and Sheboygan South compete at a sectional hosted by Fond Du Lac High School, while Green Bay Preble hosts a sectional consisting of a majority of FRCC, FVA, and Appleton area schools, along with Luxemburg-Casco.
Two Rivers hosts a Division Two Sectional that includes Kiel, Sheboygan Falls, Denmark, Chilton/Hilbert, Plymouth, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, and Wrightstown. The Den in Omro hosts a Division Three Sectional that includes Manitowoc Lutheran, Valders, Mishicot, Reedsville, Kewaunee, and New Holstein.
Meanwhile, Cedar Grove/ Belgium hosts a sectional with a field that includes Oostburg, Ozaukee, and Random Lake. The top two finishers in each weight class advance to the state meet, while the team with the top overall team score advances to Team Sectionals next Saturday. Competition at all venues starts at 10 a.m.
The 2026 WIAA Girls Basketball Tournament Pairings will be determined this weekend, with seeding to occur in all five Divisions.
Play will begin with the opening-round regional games on Tuesday, February 24th; regional semifinals are on Friday, February 27th; and Regional Finals will be on Saturday, February 28th. Sectional semifinals will be played on Thursday, March 5th, and Sectional Finals will be played on Saturday, March 7th.
The state Tournament is Thursday through Saturday, March 14th, at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon. The pairings will be released on Sunday (February 15th) and will be posted at seehafernews.com once verified.
The Manitowoc Lutheran Boys Basketball Team continues a seven-game road trip this afternoon for a non-conference game against Providence Academy of Green Bay. The Lancers have won 12 of their last 13 games, including a 10-game winning streak that was snapped by St. Mary Catholic on February 5th at Lancer Circle.
They are also very much alive for the Big East North Division Title, trailing front-running Reedsville by two in the loss column. They’ll tip the game off at the home of the Paladins at 2:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, Roncalli looks for a third straight win as they travel to Wrightstown to battle the Tigers as part of the EWC/ NEC challenge.
The Jets are coming off a 69- 58 win over Kiel Thursday night that kept the Jets a game behind front-running Brillion in the race for the EWC title. The game is scheduled to tip off at 5:30, with Sheboygan Falls and Little Chute playing at 4 p.m. prior to the Jets and Tigers.
Other games have Sturgeon Bay visiting Valders, Mishicot heads north to White Lake, undefeated Kewaunee is home for Gibraltar, Plymouth, coming off a huge home win over Oostburg Tuesday night, hosts Menasha, Green Bay Southwest hosts West Bend East and in a top-five matchup of Division Two teams, 18 and 1 and fourth ranked Lake Milles takes on undefeated and top-ranked Seymour at Beaver Dam.
The WIAA Boys Swimming Sectionals will be held today throughout the state. In Division One, Manitowoc Lincoln, Sheboygan North/ Kohler, and Sheboygan South/ Sheboygan Falls compete in Neenah, while Plymouth hosts a Division Two Sectional with athletes from Two Rivers/ Roncalli/ Chilton/ Valders/ Brillion and Elkhart Lake/ Glenbeulah competing for berths at next week’s state meet at Waukesha South High School.
The Manitowoc United One Hockey Team opens WIAA Tournament Play Tuesday night against Sheboygan South Co-op in a WIAA Division One Regional game in Sheboygan. A victory would advance them into the regional final in Appleton against Xavier Co-op next weekend.
The Valders/ Fond Du Lac girls hockey team opens WIAA Tournament play next week, hosting Xavier Co-op in Fond Du Lac on either February 19th or 20th.
A victory would advance them into the sectional against top-seeded De Pere co-op on February 24th, and both the Manitowoc Lincoln and Roncalli/Valders girls gymnastics teams are in Whitefish Bay, competing at the Whitefish Bay Invitational. The competition is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
